This page is all about my 2 dogs Billy and Bruno and some of the stuff they get up to.

Firstly i will tell you a bit about them because they both have a story to tell.

Bruno Billy

Bruno is 5 year old he is a staffy cross. Full of energy and love. Sadly last year he slipped a disc and had to go to liverpool university hospital for spinal surgery. They said he was a level 5 which ment he didnt feel hardly anything but deep pain. He was paralised from the shoulders down for about 3 months, even then he still got about by crawling, we couldnt stop him and he was still smiling so we did'nt think it was causing him any pain. It was so horrible to see him. he is always a happy dog. So glad we had pet insurance though it didnt cover all the bill which totaled at £5380!!! Bruno never give up and with hydrotherapy from swim and trim in Stoke which he didnt find fun at all as he hates swimming, the odd paddle was about as far as he ever went, so when he knew he was gong there, even with us holding his back end in a sling, he still dug his claws in and didnt want to go! Also I was giving him phyiso therapy throughout the day, which he troughly enjoyed, even now i only have to ask him if he wants a massage and his there, so is billy for that matter! his got through it and now walks with a bit of a swagger, runs like he did before, as fast a hell but his not too good at corners or stopping, running now is about the only thing that shows his disabled because his back legs flip out to the side, but he loves his running around the field with billy. The only sad thing is he cant jump up though its not for lack of trying.

We had a collie cross called Montie who was 12 who was brunos best friend but sadly we lost him too last year, Bruno was like a lost soul. I left it a few months then started to look for a new friend for Bruno. thats when we got Billy!

Billy

Billy has had such a sad start to his life. His an old english sheepdog, around the age of 2. He was rescued from the rspca in october 2007. He had been kept in a small terraced yard in Liverpool. He had no shelter and no bed and was kept with a big chain around his neck. When the rspca went they couldnt get to him either via the house or the gate, they had to climb over from a neighbours wall, so you can imagine what a state the yard must of been in! Here are some pictures of what state billy was in. He had a wound on his back that was festering

Billy is scared of everything his just a big baby, his scared mainly of the weather, the wind, rain, snow etc, he runs around crying. When we first got him he would pace up and down crying and looking up all the time, I can only imagine this was due to not having anything to see other than wondering whats on the other side of the walls around him. He had gradually got better and can now go out in bad weather without screaming at the top of his voice and dousnt pace as much, and he actually lies down and goes to sleep now as he never did before but this dousnt stop him missing any action thats there to be had! but it still dousnt stop him chasing anything that moves, like dust, leaves, blossom on the tries and now pollen seeds like dandylions. Billy has also made such a difference to bruno, I call him bruno's personal trainer, they constantly play tug of was or just catch me if you can. bruno came on leaps and bounds when we had billy, i think it gave him his oomph back in life!

Billy is most definatly a gentle giant and is learning to socialise with other dogs more, his very nervous around them, the first time he met a yorkie he cowered and peed himself and when we were walking down the field a dog growled at him and he came running back and hid behind me. just because his big dousnt mean his tough!

Theres nothing more billy likes than diving on the grooming room table and wacking me with his big paws till i brush him. he most definatly is the pampered pooch!

Billy: I am going to my first party today, its my little girls birthday. bruno has told me about all the sweets and treats that i can get! oh I cant wait!

Bruno: Hey Billy trust me, all you have to do is give them the look and they just feed you its ace! and if you see them just standing there with food just bump into them, I know you wont find that one hard, but we warned Billy dont take it from thier hands, you know like you did with the gammon joint in the kitchen last week,and you didnt even share it!!!

Billy: Oh that party was wonderful there was food everywhere and all the kids wanted me to come to them so they could stroke me oh I loved it. The only strange bit is theres now a big round thing in the garden they call it a trampaline, I jumped on it with them but i didnt like it when my feet leaving it. But they all had beds downstairs too oh it looked so comfy, but they wouldnt let me stay I had to go to bed instead but that ok because i just jump on my mum and dads bed

Bruno: Oh am so tired they wore me out, all that checking for food and my belly hurts because a little girl dropped her sweets, who says dogs arnt telepathic I willed her to drop them and she did!!

I even sneeked in bed with them all this morning and they let me for a while, even covered me up, nothing like a morning snooze!

billy: ive been to dog school and they let me stay, i barked a bit but mum shouted at me louder than i barked so i shut up. oh i love school! and i was good with all the other dogs too. but it really tired me out ad i was that excited when i got home that i couldnt sleep all night and i kept everyone away because i wanted to play musical beds. but i made up for it the next day

bruno: well i didnt go to dog school thats because i am just a superdog!

billy: i went to my first dog show today and i behaved really well my mum said.

i got entered in to a few shows, i dont really know what the big deal was i just sat there all happy. I entered a fancy dress show, best rescue and most unusual brace but i didnt win anything but i didnt care either because bruno kept bringing me doggie chews and he dousnt like them much.

but i said a lovely hello to all the dogs i met and i hardly barked all day ..well.. apart from when i saw a boy playing with a ball!

and no my head dousnt go all around i just dont like my picture being taken!

i was a super dog too today

Bruno: oh that dog show was ace all them dogs and people to say hello to

i got entered into some competitions which i won!

i came 4th in the dog most like his owner with my little girl

Bruno: and i also came 4th in best six legs and...... 5th in the best rescue dog

didnt we do well!

billy: hey bruno what do you think of my new look? cool or what? mums been trying on all her new dog hats on me!

bruno: i am so glad ive got a strange shaped head and they dont fit me

billy: haha i know she has saved you one!

bruno: just dont say a word!

bruno: i would too if i could get out of the spray that you are making, will you just calm down.

billy : ahh i see you are having a moment of fame bruno, framed for life! haha always said you were shifty looking.

bruno: oh billy, its not that sort of framed, karen had a portrait of me done for andys birthday and i must say its me just perfect

Billy: wow bruno you have gone flat, why wont you talk to me?

bruno: its the picture you daft sod not me. its from www.pastelpals.co.uk its a lovely lady who lives down the road from us. cant wait to see Dads face when he opens it on his birthday!

Billies birthday

Billy: they say its my birthday today and that i am 2! what's a birthday

bruno: not sure but ive had 5 of them now and they are great, you get lots of toys!

billy: wow more toys, think i am going to like my birthday

bruno: just do me one favour if you get any toys, share them with me?

later that day

billy:ooh ooh ooh whats that in the paper, ooh it squeeks

lots of toys and a new bed later

squeek squeek squeek squeek squeek squeek

all of us: oh shut up squeeking billy!

billy: but ive got squeeky toys!!!!

next day

billy: bruno why dont the toys squeek no more?

bruno: because you eat them billy!

bruno: its halloween today billy its sweetie day, today we go for a walk and get lots of sweets with the kids

billy: sweets on a walk?

bruno: the only bad side billy is you have to dress up

billy: hey bruno, what are the kids doing to you?

bruno: dont know but it feels nice

billy: oh wooooow

bruno: what they dont billy? billy stop laughing!

bruno: dousnt look like it but you never know, shes been reading about creative grooming, who knows!

billy: hmm my legs feel all warm

bruno: hahahahahhahaha they look like sticks and look at them horns they got you with the pens too didnt they!

bruno: well billy you have finally done it, you have let mum take a picture of you without screaming the house down, well done!

billy: well i dont know wht the fuss was all about, i just thought about all the treats i got after each flash!

Bruno: well billy you have been invited to a fancy dress party at dog school, you get to dress up in lots of daft stuff and play lots of doggie games. its on the 15th december so you better get you costume sorted, any ideas of what you are wearing?

billy: well i am not too sure but i have a feeling i am going to have a bit of bling by the look of things shes been putting on me today, and ive had the strangest things on my feet!! but i did like the stripy socks i had on for the halloween walk, ive tried to get them to put them on my legs a few times since and they just laugh at me, fingers crossed!

15 december

billy: its my party tonight, there has been a lot of things going on lately, not sure what there making but i keep trying it on, i dont really mind what they do to me

bruno: oh i wish i could come

billy: well if you hadnt of been so naughty when you came dog school maybe you may of kept going. i am a good boy, well thats what karen keeps telling me

bruno: ha well she obsiously hasnt seen you when shes not there!

billy: wow ive been the party, i got 1st prize for the fancy dress i was santa and i had a sleigh that i pulled with imogen in it dressed as santas little helper giving out dog biscuits, it felt a bit wierd walkiing with it but the best bit was when i walked back in the room after we got changed outside the floor was covered in squeeky toys, i just didnt know what to do with myself, and because i won first prize i could choose any, so i did but think i got it wrong, i tried to change it but the other dog didnt want to swap

well the photos on the night wernt very good, mum kept trying to take pictures but she had me on the lead and i wasnt staying still at all, i blame it on all the squeeking going on

Merry Christmas from santa paws!

billy: hey bruno, so that was christmas, wow ive had so many toys that my toy box is overflowing, and still the one i want is at the bottom hee hee ive eaten all sorts, though they wont let me have that lovely chocolate stuff that smells soooo good

bruno: burp, yeah plenty of food and great toys, and i got a coat so i dont shiver when i am not next to the radiator

billy: yeah i got a bowl like yours with little pictures of dogs on it, oh how ive wanted one of them bowls, not that metal thing, it scares me when i get to the bottom i see a strange face in it, when i get to the bottom, thats why i leave a bit, and they think its me leaving a bit for you

bruno: billy..... that strange thing in your bowl, its you!

billy: ohhhhhh

bru: well i would just like to say thanks to everyone for all the presents

billy: squeek squeek yeah thanks x

1-2-08

billy: oh bruno what are they trying to do to my paw?

bruno: dont know billy but they are trying to do it to me too, there not having my paw, no way!!!!!

billy: but there dunking in it goey stuff, they tell me there making a paw print, its cold and wet, but hey there feeding me buiscuits so i am happy to just hang around for a bit!

bruno: but there not having my paw!!!!!

billy: phew after all that, it didnt work, and ive got mucky paws now, hey dous that mean i am going to get another bath, oh i hope so.

bruno: but there not bathing me, no way

billy: oh yeah the towels are out and shes calling me yeah i am having a bath, hours of me time!

bruno: hope she covers them chunks of hair the vet too off too

billy: oh they itched, only fat lumps though and i am ok now

i am off for my bath oh to be a pampered pooch!

3-2-09

billy: hey bru that white stuff is back again!

bruno: you know billy if you wernt running around the house screaming i would never of noticed

billy: but its the white stuff and its different

bruno: well billy if you wernt running around the garden like a total lunatic you may just realise that if you rub you nose in it you get a little pile of snow on it and you stand there and watch it melt like me... very theraputic, no energy required

billy: but whats the fun in that

bruno: life is what you make it billy!

billy: hey bruno, your going to dog school now arnt you? how are you getting on?

bruno: its mad there, lots of dogs but they wont take my lead off and let me play so i keep crying till they do

billy: oh so you do that all lesson?

bruno: oh yeah! karen is really annoyed at me and this week she kept squirting me with water to try and shut me up, teacher just says its my breed and that i am just totally excitable

billy: oh your right there! why dont you just chill out like me?

bruno: hey billy i took your advice and chilled out some more

billy: wow bruno, now thats comfy. how are you doing at dog school?still the naughtiest one there hahahha??

bruno: well it was great till they brought that naughty corner to school, you know the bit i have at home when i eat stuff that i shouldnt. so now i have to behave, and i get a play time if i go early, i like that bit best. but i am getting better.

billy: yeah i get a play time too at half time, its mad we all play, i take a toy so i dont bark too much.

billy: at least you have short hair and them girls of ours leave you alone, how do you think i feel having such long hair, they get me its not fair, i ended up with 3 bobbles in the other day, just waiting for a perm and dye one day!

bruno: hey its my birthday today, i am having a party later, got some friends coming round to play

billy: hey great does that mean that you will be getting lots of toys that i can play with?

bruno: ok ill share them with you as long as you promise me a game of tug of war with me!

billy: ok. are you getting a cake too?

bruno: i watched andy making it today, its a meaty cake full of lovely smelling stuff and its got dog treats on it, oh and my name, i know i should'nt of looked but i had to because andy let me have a sneeky peek

billy - mums been naughty and not done our page for ages

bruno - yeah she should go in the naughty corner!

billy - she even missed my birthday and telling you all about all the toys i got!

poppy - well at least i can tell you about my latest prize.. i can second in the beginners obidience class, out of 16

billy - hmm well i got a reserve in the advanced

bruno - well i am too naughty to go there!

billy - its the dog school christmas party in a few weeks, its fancy dress again, last year mum made me a santa costume and made a sleigh, wonder what shes going to do this year?

poppy - i want to be a pretty princess

bruno - i am too naughty to go!

bill-. my hair is getting really long now and mum wont let me swim anymore, its not fair.

bruno - oh the joys of having short hair. at least your warm.

poppy - i dont like swimming it messes my fur up.

17-1-10

billy - well mum has been bad and not updated for ages

bruno - well lets tell em all about it now

poppy - yeah lets start by me coming 2nd in the beginners obidience class

billy - wow how did YOU manage that?

poppy - because i am sooooo good!

bruno - well i still cant go because i am soooo bad hahaha

billy - well poppy, you had your first proper christmas!

poppy - yeah playing with all that wrapping paper was great and i got lots of toys and treats, but the best bit was finding that tin of roses chocolates! i didnt get any though, mum is always brushing my tiny teeth

bruno - i loved all the treats best oh wow i love turkey

billy - we had a great time at the dog school christmas party, there was squeeky toys and sausages everywhere, i do admit i was a little bit wild though

poppy - i loved the fancy dress, i was a pretty princess, dressed in a pretty pink dress and a feather boa!

billy - i was a teddy bear

bruno - i stayed home with dad

billy - we all went for a great walk at rudyead lake, 5 miles of mud!

poppy - i really enjoyed it, even got used to being up to my knees with mud, i walked all the way around with no lead!

bruno - oh it was ace, i did som much running around, but i was knackered for the next few days

billy - mum was a bit annoyed that i was so muddy, she had only given me a bath the day before, good job i love having a bath because i had another one when i got in!

bruno - dont take long to bath me hee hee

billy - and then there was the snow!

bruno - oh i love the snow i love running around in it nose to the floor seeing how much i can get on my nose

billy - i love chasing the snow flakes

poppy - i dont like it, makes my tiny feet freeze but mum sorted that out
